Gilberto Silva is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder for Arsenal between 2002 and 2008. Gilberto played an instrumental part in helping Arsenal win the Premier League title as part of the Invincibles team, whereby they went the entire season unbeaten. He played in 32 of Arsenal’s 38 unbeaten Premier League games during this season. Outside of Arsenal, Gilberto made 93 appearances for Brazil, featuring prominently at the 2002 FIFA World Cup where his country won the tournament.
