Norbert Haug

Norbert Haug was Head of Motorsport at Mercedes-Benz for over 22 years, leading Mercedes and its partner teams to four Formula 1 drivers’ and two constructors’ world championship titles between 1998 and 2009. In the DTM, under Norbert Haug’s leadership, Mercedes won more races against renowned works teams such as Audi and BMW between 1991 and 2012 than all its competitors combined—becoming the winningest brand in the DTM. Of more than 900 races in all major motorsport categories, Mercedes won more than 400 under Haug’s leadership, including more than 80 in Formula 1 and more than 140 in the DTM. The current Formula 1 Silver Arrows were launched under Haug’s direction, winning the Formula 1 World Championship title in 1998 and 1999 with partner McLaren and Mika Häkkinen and in 2008 with Lewis Hamilton. In 2014, the year after Haug’s departure, Mercedes dominated with its Silver Arrows factory team and became double world champion with Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. From then on, the Mercedes Silver Arrows won a total of seven double world championships to date and became the most successful team in motorsport history.
